The third French area by surface area, Aquitaine is made up of a mosaic of countries. Périgord, Gascogne, Guyenne, Armagnac, Béarn, Basque Country make the South-West in all its diversity.
The coastline, an immense beach 250 km long, is a joy for bathers and surfers with the finest sports in Europe. Golf, skiing, climbing, hiking are also on the programme for the most sporty, while thalassotherapy, hydrotherapy, river tourism, historical or gastronomic meetings make it possible to discover at your own pace the multiple facets of an area where you can get away from it all.

Are there beaches in Aquitaine or is it more a question of one long beach? Unique in Europe and a ribbon 250 km long, this coastline with its fine sand extends from the estuary of the Gironde to the Chambre d’Amour on the Basque Coast. Called "Côte d’Argent", bordered by peaceful lakes and a line of dunes that protects the forest, this coast has remained unspoilt in many places. More to the South, the Basin of Arcachon, kingdom of the oyster producers, is bordered by villas typical of the seaside architecture of the 19th century, and small fishing ports where you can taste oysters accompanied by a glass of white wine. |

3 km long and more than 100 m high, the Dune du Pyla offers an exceptional panorama over the Bassin and the Forest of the Landes. In the South of the Region, the beaches make way for a steep coast of creeks and rocks, the last vestiges of the Pyrenees. We discover the Basque seaside resorts with their white houses and red or green shutters, and their busy fishing ports with their brightly pained boats.
Thalassotherapy has elected residence in Anglet, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-of-Luz and Hendaye, with views over the ocean from the front, and direct access to the golf courses of the hinterland from their gardens. |

Whether you come by train, plane or by car, your stay will surely lead you to visit the regional capital. Bordeaux, the "curious, original, unique city". Bordeaux, just like Aquitaine, is inseparable from wine and wines. In the Gironde, whether they are red, white, dry or liqueur-like, great world-famous vintages predominate.
